Objectives

Rayleigh-Bénard turbulence is one of the most actively investigated research topics in fluid dynamics. Examples of turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection can be found in the atmosphere, in oceans, in the core and mantle of planets, including our Earth, and also in the outer layer of stars, including our Sun. Apart from the relevance for astrophysics, geophysics and meteorology, turbulent thermal convection is also important for engineering, where industrial investigations of heat transfer aim at the development of more effective and safe heating or cooling devices to reduce energy consumption.

Turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection is currently a very active research topic that has applications in astrophysics and geophysics such as the internal dynamics of stars and planets, as well as in engineering application such as heat transfer in nuclear reactors

The 9th International Conference on Rayleigh-Bénard Turbulence will be held in 16-20 Oct,2023 at Xi’an, China.
